To work or to kill oneself?
How do people do this? How does everyone work in such alienated stupor and live a happy life? It is beyond me. Now in our modern society, we aspire to be qualified slaves so that we can one day be grateful to serve a system that is built on violence. Violence shapes the system, as its demonic claws suck people out of people. Man works to the point of emptying oneself until nothing is left but an empty shell resembling the original.
So say you work from 9 to 5, but it's not really 9 to 5 - it's the whole fucking day once you've turned on your phone. Technology has empowered the upper echelons of the system - only to oppress the majority. So you work your ass off for the whole week, only to find that there is an "unofficial" order to complete the pending "work" by the weekend waiting for you just before you leave office. Even if you are lucky enough to evade this, you go to your room exhausted, not enough strength remains in you to visit your home hundreds of miles away. So you pass the weekend thinking about things in solitude, getting drunk to the point of going sick, do your chores one morning, and voila! Another week is waiting for you to fuck you all over again.
No one heals from this, everyone becomes anesthetized eventually. You get married BECAUSE YOU ARE LONELY AND YOU SEARCH FOR A LOST IDENTITY, not out of love, which amounts to the deepest defeat of humankind. Because here a chain starts to unravel, events are triggered and cascade into a never ending loop. You have a baby.
You think you are happy, finally! But this happiness, even if it exists, is the utmost selfish act mankind has imagined since its inception. Giving birth is probably more selfish an act, if it can be measurable at all, than killing oneself. Here you start the same chain to be repeated for eternity, you pass on your unhappiness at getting raped by a system to your progeny - you become the person the evil system finally wanted you to be, you gave it fodder for itself.
Thus the virtuous man works but does not submit, he remains alone and unhappy because that precisely is the only way to revolt. Revolts require great sacrifices. Killing yourself may seem like a sacrifice, but it is not so till your parents are there to mourn for you. To revolt now is not to kill yourself, but to kill yourself slowly by doing what you are doing right now, without complaining, but without seeking escape. This is no mean feat, and the sacrifice would amount to nothing less than Bhisma's sacrifice if the great epic Mahabharata was written right now. You, Bhisma! The one who took the terrifying oath.
